Private teaching is a great way to expand and deepen your child's love of music and their abilities. This page has the most current information available. Changes, due to COVID-19, will be updated as they occur.
There are two kinds of private lessons to consider. When making a decision for your student, please consider time/scheduling, their motivation to practice independently, and their interest in music. Many students in our program pursue one of the options below; ask parents for a recommendation for more information. If you have any questions, please ask the directors.
1) Guided Practice Tutors - These are high school students from the high school orchestra program who have been trained by their teachers how to assist students to achieve success on their instrument. Guided Practice Tutors are a wonderful resource for younger musicians to help reinforce concepts and music taught at school and encourage them to practice outside of school.
2) Adult Private Teachers* - These are professional musicians and instrument specialists who want to help and inspire students to succeed on their instrument. They work to strengthen skills and progress your students through additional music, not related or practiced in class. They help students pursue extra-curricular experiences like Solo and Ensemble, Youth Orchestra, and Summer Camps.
*The School District does not endorse, employ, or evaluate the following individuals as tutors. The School District is not responsible for coordinating or supervising tutor service. Any tutoring arrangements (including payment arrangements) are made between the parent/guardian and the tutor and are independent of the School District. Please note: Some teachers' schedules may be full at this time, while others will have openings. Please call the individual teacher to determine availability.
