6th Grade ChorusThis class is for all students in the 6th grade curricular chorus. They meet 4th or 5th period during encore time. 6th grade chorus sings music that challenges their vocal skills. Independent part singing and vocal development is a focus for 6th grade. Early sight reading skills are studied and applied. 8th Grade ChorusThe 8th grade curricular chorus meets either 2nd or 3rd period of the daily schedule. The 8th grade classes sing music in 3 and 4 parts, and focus on the changing voice for boys and girls. Sight reading is a major component of 8th grade. 7th Grade ChorusThis class is for all students in the 7th grade curricular chorus. These classes meet during 8th and 9th periods. The music includes 2, 3, and 4 part singing, as well as study the changing voice. Students in 7th grade are allowed to audition for the District 9 ILMEA Junior Honor Choir. Honor Chorus6th, 7th and 8th graders who are in a curricular chorus may choose to audition for the Honor Chorus. The audition determines the placement within this ensemble. This ensemble rehearses and performs music that is more challenging. The students are often responsible for sight reading their own parts. Honor Chorus performs in many extra concerts, and has added responsibilities. The Honor Chorus meets before school on Tuesday and Friday.
